Kindeya Foundation
Kindeya means "like a father" in Tigrigna
Welcome to the Kindeya Foundation! Kindeya emerged as an iconic hero during the early 1991 Victory of Tigray, a coalition led by Tigran's, which defeated the Ethiopian army and compelled military lead Mengestu Hailemariam to flee the country.
Kindeya exemplified perseverance and went down in history as a hero, sacrificing his life for Tigray. That's why we chose the name our organization after him, with the objective of honoring and commemorating the bravery of such heroes.
Our goal is to remember and memorialize the lives of individuals who have been forgotten because of the war in Tigray.
We believe that every person has the right to live in safety and dignity, free from the fear and harm caused by war.
Our mission is to give these individuals the recognition they deserve. We want to be able to bring a voice to those who have been lost and help all Tegaru recognize their contributions and their stories.
We also work to promote peace and reconciliation, and to advocate for the rights of war victims.
We will host events, such as remembrance ceremonies and educational seminars, to spread our message and inspire people to remember every single life stolen by the war on Tigray.
At the Kindeya Foundation, we will also conduct extensive research into war-related topics in order to uncover more about the lives of not only those lost, but also those affected by the wars. Our research will look at the stories of war survivors, veterans, and the impact of war on their families and communities.
We are committed to preserving the memories of those who have been lost and bringing attention to the stories that are often forgotten or overlooked. It is our obligation to pass down their legacy, both as a way of honoring them and as a source of inspiration for all of us.
We believe that no life should go forgotten and we are committed to preserving the memories of all of our fallen heroes. By joining to our cause, you can help us continue to work towards recognizing and preserving the memories of those who have been forgotten.
It’s a reality we can’t ignore war claims the lives of countless service members each year and leaves countless survivors living with the physical and psychological scars of combat. Among these survivors, many have lost limbs, leaving them to grapple with how they can still live their life to the fullest.
It’s often said that bravery is not merely a trait of those in uniform, but a quality of the human spirit for all of us to embrace. For military personnel who have lost limbs in battle, that courage is put to the test, as the strength of our character is what will guide them forward.
Thanks to healthcare advances, advances in prosthetics, and a preparedness to adapt, those who have sacrificed parts of their bodies have found a new way to live.
The healing process isn’t an easy one. Much of it comes down to learning to accept and embrace the changes brought on by their injuries. For those who struggle with the emotional impacts, support can be found in The Kindeya Foundation Projects, which aims to provide needed resources and assistance for those recovering from injuries sustained in battle.
Those who are willing to take that extra step to overcome their own adversity, who challenge themselves to reimagine their life’s possibilities, can come away from the recovery process even stronger than before, better equipped to face life’s challenges.
At the end of the day, a soldier’s courage and strength lies not only in their physical ability, but also in their will to overcome any obstacle. Though limbs may be lost in battle, the spirit and resilience of these brave men and women show us that there are no boundaries to success. Let’s show them our support by getting involved. When you see an injured hero, make sure to give them EXTRA love.
When we think of wars, we often imagine the heroic battles fought by brave frontline soldiers. But beyond those battles, there are many young lives that are unaccounted for - buried in unmarked graves or lost in the chaos of warfare.
We must remember and honors those who made the ultimate sacrifice, giving their lives in the pursuit of justice and peace. Unfortunately, and especially in Tigray, their stories are often overlooked and unheard. It is our duty to make sure their voices are heard, even in death.
We must strive to understand the gravity of war the innocent lives that have been taken, and the families left behind. We cannot simply turn a blind eye and forget about them. We need to recognize that wars have a serious human cost, and all the lives lost in war are not only victims but also some of the bravest people among us.
Despite the pain of war, there is also beauty within it – stories of selflessness, compassion and kindness, miracles of survival, and resilience against all odds. These stories must also be told.
We must remember each and every life that has been taken as a result of war - honoring their memories and striving to create a world ruled by peace, not violence. So let us take a moment to remember those who have been taken away from us too soon due to this senseless violence on our land. They will forever be in our hearts and our memories.
Thank you for your time and support. Together, we can remember those who have been taken from us too soon.
